NEARLY 9,000 QUALIFIED INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS ATTEND THE WESTERN FOODSERVICE & HOSPITALITY EXPO, HEALTHY FOOD EXPO WEST AND COFFEE FEST

LOS ANGELES, CA, September 10, 2018 - Last month 8,974 chefs, industry leaders, owners and operators from the restaurant and foodservice industry networked and conducted business with 428 exhibiting companies during the Western Foodservice & Hospitality Expo which was co-located with Healthy Food Expo West and Coffee Fest. The robust trade show and conference offered a collection of the best new food, equipment and technology, awards presentations, education sessions, and cooking demonstrations with celebrity chefs. The event is owned by Clarion UX and sponsored by the California Restaurant Association.

"We worked diligently this past year to identify the best audience to bring to our event, and we are thrilled to say our efforts paid off," said Tom Loughran, Vice President for the Clarion UX food & beverage event portfolio.  "We saw a dramatic increase in the number of qualified attendees to the event.  Our exhibitors were happy with the improvement in the buyers who walked the aisles and were pleased that many people came to buy new products, equipment and services for their restaurants and foodservice establishments and experience for the first time Coffee Fest and Healthy Food Expo West."


Coffee and tea professionals learned skills, received education and experience new products, alongside great networking during CoffeeFest Los Angeles. The event offered a trade show floor featuring many new companies with wonderful new products; several exciting competitions including the Coffee Fest Latte Art World Championship Open; and a robust education program.
 
The inaugural Healthy Food Expo West was a highlight of the event and focused on healthy, natural and organic food products. Attendees
has access to a new "Healthy" conference program that educated restaurant, foodservice and retail professionals about the newest trends and practices in the health food industry-everything from gluten-free and allergen-free to vegan, vegetarian and plant-based foods and products.

The Western Foodservice & Hospitality Expo offered 40+ education sessions, on operational excellence, marketing & social media, hot trends and building a winning team, plus a half day workshop from Darren Dennington, Founder of Service with Style Hospitality Group on How to be a Rockstar Restaurant and a Why Whiskey Workshop with Tom Fischer, Founder of Bourbonblog.com.

Attendees and exhibitors had very positive feedback about the show and conference. Marjorie R. Ward of Mountain Valley Spring Company, said "What a great experience we had at the Western Expo, everything ran smoothly thanks to the team of Clarion UX."  Bryan Kim, CJB GROUP, LLC added, "Our group attended and we want to congratulate the management team for a well-organized event, it was great."  

During the show, attendees voted in several categories in the Innovative New Product Showcase. The Overall Winner for the best new product was Somabar for their automated bartender; The 1st Place Runner Up Fresh Bytes for their custom mobile ordering app; The 2nd Place Runner Up was Flat Tech for their automatic self-stabilizing table base; and Best New Product in the Food Trends Experience was Sea Kingdom for their premium tea leaves, matcha, boba, and teapresso machines. In addition, ten exhibitors were chosen by a panel of media judges to Pitch the Press, and present their new product or service to editors, buyers, restaurateurs and others.  Best in Show for Pitch the Press was awarded to RP & Associates for their Grub Tub.

center), Sommelier and Restaurateur of The Lucques Group with the Torch Award for her knowledge, leadership and philanthropic efforts at the Western Foodservice Expo. 

In addition, Kathleen Wood (left), moderated the Foodservice Council for Women panel discussion with a dynamic group of women including Niki Nakayama, n/nka; Erin Wade, Homeroom; Chef Tati Polo; Mary Sue Milliken, Border Grill; Chef Nina Curtis, and presented the Beacon Award to Dominique Crenn, Chef/Co-Owner of Atelier Crenn.
